Structural Framework & Fault Modeling

Fault-honest structural frameworks you can drill against, update while drilling and hand straight to simulation.

Deliverable A QC’d structural framework and 3D grid, ready for property modeling.

Seismic-to-Model Fault Framework & Structure Mapping

Frameworks that are established and updatable, for well planning, geologic prognosis and real-time drilling updates.

Scope

  • Seismic-to-model fault framework from interpreted faults and horizons
  • Fault naming, segmentation and QC (QC Manager), with confidence and positioning
  • Fault-honest horizons that preserve heave and throw
  • Model types: for understanding, for drilling, for horizontal well placement, for property population, grid definition and simulation / history match

Proof Delivered the minimum-viable structural framework model for a full-field rebuild ahead of expectations, after finalizing 40+ overlapping faults and building a fault atlas with structural specialists.

Deliverable

A QC’d structural framework and 3D grid ready for property modeling.

Who it's for

Asset teams developing fault-complex deepwater fields who need a model they can keep updating as wells come in.

What I'm Really Good At

I am a data integrator first: I pull interpreted faults, horizons, well tops and dip data into one framework every discipline can work from. At BP I built and documented full-field structural frameworks with rigorous QC, and kept models current with real-time LWD, mudlog and wireline data while wells drilled.

Fault Throw, Juxtaposition & Transmissibility

Know which sands talk across each fault before the simulator has to guess.

Fault planes in 3D colored by throw: magenta where displacement is small, grading through blue and green to yellow where it is largest
Synthetic demonstration data · Fault planes colored by throw / displacement Full size: Fault planes colored by throw / displacement

Scope

  • Fault throw, displacement and heave analysis; throw profiles and consistency checks
  • Zonal juxtaposition across faults: which sands sit against which, zone by zone
  • Fault seal and fault property editing, tied back to the wells and production that test each fault
  • Throw and juxtaposition results packaged as the input for fault transmissibility (see 4.3)

Deliverable

Throw, juxtaposition and fault-property sets for every mapped fault.

Who it's for

Operators updating a simulation model or history match on a faulted field.

What I'm Really Good At

I treat faults as seals and conduits, not just surfaces, and I tie throw and juxtaposition back to the wells and production that test them. At BP I mentored intern work on fault-transmissibility scenarios, testing how throw and juxtaposition change what the reservoir actually sees.

Structural Scenario Geomodeling for Simulation Updates

The compartment geometry and fault seal your sim model is missing, before you pick the next infill well.

Oblique 3D view of a cluster of fault planes rising from a property map that grades from purple to yellow
Synthetic demonstration data · Fault framework over a property map, oblique view Full size: Fault framework over a property map, oblique view

Scope

  • Structural and compartment scenarios tied to infill-well decisions
  • Alternative fault and horizon geometries that bracket compartment size and connectivity
  • Each scenario framework carried through gridding, so every case is simulation-ready
  • Sub-offer: multi-scenario cases in AspenTech RMS on the client’s license

Deliverable

Scenario frameworks and grids, each ready for simulation and history match.

Who it's for

Operators updating a simulation model or history match on a faulted field, with an infill program at stake. Pairs with BRV Assurance (3.1).

What I'm Really Good At

I am at my best when structure is the main uncertainty. I build scenario models that integrate petrophysics, pressure, image logs, core and PLT/PTA/MBAL data, and at BP I framed ensemble uncertainties that improved static-dynamic agreement in history matching.

Synthetic demonstration data: all datasets shown were built solely for demonstration purposes and are not client data.

How to engage

Start small, prove value on one block, then scale. Fast turnaround, remote, Houston-based.

  1. 30-minute fit call

We walk through your field, data and decision. You leave with a clear view of where the subsurface risk sits and whether I am the right fit.

  2. Fixed-scope pilot

One fault block or one zone, fixed price and fixed scope. You see my framework, zone averages, maps and QC on your own data before committing further.

  3. Full study

Field-wide framework, correlation, mapping and volumetrics, with handoff-ready grids for reservoir engineering.
